The Institute of Computer Science is one of the six Institutes
within the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology,
of Politechnika Warszawskais (Warsaw University of Technology).
The main activities of the Institute include:
The
Institute's main research areas include information systems,
computer graphics, computer systems' architectures, and
software engineering. These research and teaching areas
have influenced the organisation of the Institute: the staff
is subdivided into three divisions: Division of Information
Systems, Division of Computer Graphics and Division of Software
Engineering and Computer Architecture. To each of divisions
belongs a specialised laboratory unit for carrying out the
research and also for students preparing their major projects
and diploma theses.
The Division of Information Systems is specialised in theoretical
and practical aspects of information systems databases,
and knowledge representation. Particular emphasised are
aspects of data mining and text and web mining, spatial
databases, logical tools for semantic database systems,
decision support systems, machine learning, and the application
of rough sets theory in these fields.
